Meet our Dietitian: Meghan
Meghan was diagnosed with celiac disease at a
young age and understands the huge impact that food
can have on our health. She studied nutrition at
Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she
completed over 1200 hours of internships in local
hospitals and in the community. After graduation,
she served as a member of the Mercy Volunteer Corps
for a year and volunteered full-time at Loaves and
Fishes in Sacramento. She taught diabetes classes to
the homeless guests and worked one-on-one helping to
empower individuals to take control of their health.
Meghan then worked as a Pediatric Dietitian at
Loma Linda University Medical Center in Southern
California before returning to the East Coast to
continue her work with children in an Early
Intervention Program. In this work, she saw many
sick children and families and recognized the
tremendous need for nutrition education and disease
prevention. She also continued her education at the
Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City
and received her certification as a Holistic Health
Counselor.
She has found her passion in working with
individuals to develop a lifestyle that promotes
wellness. She believes in the theory of
bio-individuality: that each person has a unique
genetic makeup and individual needs and that each
person is an expert on living in his or her own
body. She takes a holistic approach with
individuals, knowing that while the food we eat
directly affects our bodies, we are also nourished
by many other facets of our lives including healthy
relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical
activity, and a spiritual practice (all considered
"primary foods"). Meghan explores all of these areas
with clients to help create a menu of true
nourishment and transform lives to ones of health
and happiness.
